1969 Pontiac Firebird 400

My 69 Firebird 400 at Tioga Pass, Yosemite.

And of course my many trips to Yosemite.

As the years pass, backpacking has become one of my favorite hobbies. In a way I’m combining the two by driving the car to the trailhead!

This is the Tioga Pass Entrance Station in Yosemite, the highest automobile pass in the US at 9945′. The car was parked there while I hiked to the summit of Mt. Dana!

While I’m not as active in the automotive hobby as I used to be, I still have plans for this car. In keeping with the original street-strip theme, I would like to install a 200-4R transmission for more streetability and better gas mileage, if that’s possible. I’d like to take the car to the track and hopefully break into the 12’s. I’d also like to reinstall the factory A/C. Gotta keep cool!!

Hope to see you on the street, at the track or on the trail!
